In Japan it’s spring break right now and the parks are full of kids playing and families having picnics under the Hanami (Cherry Blossom) trees that are just starting to bloom.

Hanami2Today I had to run some errands so I hopped on my bike for the ride to the Mihama Ward Office (city hall) to pick up our Alien cards.  Then I posted a letter, took a spin through the 100 Yen store and picked up a couple of items from the grocery store  including a sushi bento and an orange for my lunch.

On my way home I decided that the day was just too nice to eat my bento inside so I stopped at my local park and sat down on a bench to eat under the cherry blossoms.

The trees aren’t in full bloom yet but they are still very pretty and I found what looked like a nice one to sit under and ponder life.  As a family strolled by looking for a spot to have their picnic one of the kids excitedly pointed up so I looked too and the picture below is what I saw.  I felt a bit guilty as I think that I found the best bench in the park to eat my bento!

My first Hanami of the Season

It was great day today in Chiba so when I finished my errands I stopped by a local park to eat my bento and do some Hanami viewing. I think the Japanese are onto something here!

It’s an exciting time of the year … out with Winter in with Spring!

I couldn’t agree more! And what a peaceful time I had even though there were a ton of kids running around playing - I got lost in my thoughts for a few minutes.

Thanks for the comment and adding me to your featured feeds Niel.

No probs Shane, it’s a win win … i find it easier to check who’s made an update on the blogs i like to read from 1 place and rather my featured feeds methd than a feed reader.

Looking forward to reading more of your posts!
