Quote of the Week – Happily Ever After
Have you ever thought about what the ever after meant in all of those fairy tales you read as a kid? Who hasn’t, at some point in their life, struggled with the fact their life hasn’t turned out the way that they wanted or that it was supposed to? Who determined how it was supposed to be – were we conditioned by all of the happily ever after endings of those same fairly tales?
“Feel lucky for what you have when you have it. Isn’t that the point? Happily ever after doesn’t mean happy forever. The ever after, what precisely was that? Your dreams, your life, your death, your everything. Was it the blank space that went on without us? The forever after we were gone?”
Excerpt from The Ice Queen by Alice Hoffman.
What do you think?

Great quote. I think people spend their whole life thinking about goals they have set for themselves. To some extent they might of succeeded in attaining them, but 90% of the time, you have to settle for less than you had hoped. That is what life is about. That doesn’t mean don’t follow your dreams, just that it is ok to accept when they don’t all come true.

I agree with you James – life just isn’t like all of the fairly tales we read as kids!
